The redevelopment of an existing 9-storey building on London’s iconic Berkeley Square into a mixed-use building with extensive office space, retail and gallery units witnessed Blou demonstrate their range of expertise from the design and installation of a complex timber-structured multi-storey extension including necessary fire breaks, to the design, manufacture and installation of prime joinery items such as Ebonized-Oak panelling and a Leather and Stone-clad desk.
In addition to the works mentioned above and general 1st and 2nd fixing carpentry works, Blou’s deep involvement in the project, which spanned over two years, saw our highly qualified and experienced team also carry out the following works:
- Strengthening works to existing timber-joisted floors and the comprehensive refurbishment of existing door linings to ready them for new door leafs throughout the 5-floor listed section of the building
- Design, supply and installation of 3 types of doorsets fitted with Antique Brass ironmongery – panelled timber door leafs designed to match existing listed doors installed into existing linings; laminated timber doorsets with American Black Walnut exposed lippings and factory-finished metal doorsets
- Forming of arched openings between the listed and new-build sections of the building across all floors, fitted with timber mouldings to match existing heritage profiles
- Complex timber floor system throughout comprising of a structural Plywood deck, acoustic membrane and Engineered factory-finished timber flooring supplied by market leader, Havwoods
- Design, manufacture and installation of vanity units and medicine cabinets to all superloos, comprising of Acid-Etched mirrored doors, coloured-glass splashbacks and Corian cladding all incorporating an LED lighting system (including all necessary timber framework and Wedi board)
- Fireplace surrounds manufactured in fire-proof materials incorporating a lockable door and Granite hearths
- Bespoke profile lacquered American White Oak handrail to the main staircase installed to match line of metal balustrading
- Hundreds of metres of skirting, dado rail, picture rails, architraves and cornicing, installed throughout the building all manufactured in-house to match existing heritage profiles
