Blou are pleased to announce the completion of their works on the redevelopment of Shaftesbury Theatre. Working in collaboration with Sir Robert McAlpine once again, Blou manufactured and installed fire doorsets throughout the theatre with varying designs; certain doorsets had a more contemporary feel whereas most of the front of house doorsets were designed to match existing heritage doors. The doorsets were fitted with a wide range of ironmongery; high end contemporary stainless steel fittings and heritage satin brass fittings.
Another key part of Blou’s scope was the design, manufacture and installation of IPS paneling, cubicles and medicine cabinets to WC’s on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors of the theatre. The IPS panels were faced in a Folio Green Suede effect laminate and secret fixed to timber framework, the cubicles were Crown Cut Brown Oak veneered with a clear lacquer finish (quite the contrast!) and finally the Medicine cabinets were formed mainly in factory finished MDF with a mirrored door laser etched to show Soap and Dry symbols.
It was certainly a fast paced project; Blou were required to manufacture doorsets in under three weeks and manufacture the cubicle units in five weeks, however, the works were completed on time and the theatre opened as planned…THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
