University Arms Hotel, Cambridge
Nominated in three Brick Awards categories, the University Arms Hotel, first opened in 1834, has been reopened following a two year, £80m refurbishment boasting 192 rooms and suites. The design has retained the “classic Cambridge” feel, each suite is complete with a private library & many of the top floor rooms have access to private balconies.
Working for RG Carter and Szerelmey, Blou’s involvement was a £500k labour only package which consisted of extensive refurbishment to English heritage standard & new build extension to this iconic building. Features included arches, bullseyes & radius brickwork.
Grange Primary School, Southwark
Nominated for one award in the Education category, Grange Primary School in Southwark had looked to expand in order to increase their entry numbers per year. Prior to refurbishment, the school was a three-storey block in a Victorian state school style.
Working for the client Morgan Sindall, Blou’s involvement consisted of a £350k labour and materials package including brick clad soffit lintels, glazed brick picture frame feature window & projecting header feature.
